virginina Beach Corrections
Hi Everyone,

Sunday March 1 @ 1:00 P.M. will be our correctional volunteers get-together at the VB Recovery Club (501 B Virginia Beach Blvd, 23451). This will not be for everyone in the area invloved in carrying AA meetings to correctional facilities, but only for those of us who carry, or want to make application to carry AA to the VB Correctional Facility (City Jail). The format of this meeting will be determined by jail meeting coordinator, but the purposes for our meeting include the following:

[list] Getting acquainted with and sharing our experience with others (men and women)
who are carrying AA meetings to the City Jail.
* Sharing information with each other such as meeting formats, what literature is being utilized, and what sort of support we might need from the Intergroup Correctional Commitee.
* Invite qualified (1 year sobriety, no felonies, 5 years since last misdemeanor) meeting applicants to get a feel for how we take AA to the jail and to take next steps toward getting their application approved.
* Discuss questions we might have such as, "How can we best help inmates stay sober as they leave the correctional system?" and, "Are there other ways we can be available to the jail administration for the purpose of educating personell about the disease of alcoholism and the program of recovery outlined in the book Alcohlics Anonymous?"

Please forward this e-mail to anyone you know who is involved in carrying AA
to the City Jail or who would be a qualified applicant. Qaulifications include one year
of sobriety in AA, no felonies on record, and 5 years since last misdemeanor.

Thanks for the opportunity to serve,
